Censor Board Says Male Stripper Drama Magic Mike Is 'Anti-Indian'

You guys remember Magic Mike XXL, right? It's the Channing Tatum film that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had denied a release to

The Warner Bros film was sent to the Revising Committee after the Examining Committee refused to give its nod. And this is where things got really bizarre.

Turns out, after watching the male stripper drama, some members of the Revising Committee have deemed it 'anti-Indian'. Yes, you read that right.

A source told SpotboyE.com, "While two members were okay with the film being passed with minor cuts and an A certificate, three others were quite taken aback by its content. One lady even said that the film doesn't suit Indian society and is even anti-Indian culture."

But why couldn't the members, opposing its release, suggest cuts and let the film come out? "They had several issues with the theme itself - that of male stripping. Now how can you edit out a film's theme?" the source argued.



As things stand today, the film is in limbo.

Now, to secure a release, Warner Bros will have to either approach the Tribunal or go to controversial CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani. If he clears the film, they can get a release but viewers still won't be able to enjoy the film in its entirety as it will be majorly trimmed.
